Judy Bailey's Jazz Connection is a modern big band featuring high energy, sensational young players performing a large and stylistically varied repertoire of old and new standards as well as originals originals. The band's music is perfect for listening and/or dancing. Jazz Connection performs regularly at various International Jazz Festivals such as those at Manly, Darling Harbour, Thredbo and also Merimbula, Morpeth and Kiama. They have also appeared at the Sydney Opera House and the Seymour Centre.
In 2000 the band completed a highly successful tour of the North Island of New Zealand, culminating in appearances at the Whangarei International Jazz Festival. 2001 saw Jazz Connection with a residency at the Harbourside Brasserie, made all the more exciting with the presentation of a different star quality guest performer each month. 2002/3 continues with a monthly residency at the BASEMENT including a star guest performer and also an open 'jam' session. Jazz Connection is part of the Sydney Youth Jazz Ensemble Association which is a non profit organisation dedicated to the provision of high quality education and training in jazz for youth, under the musical direction of Judy Bailey. These young players range in age from 15 to 22 and are drawn from throughout the Sydney region.
