Steve Taylor-Brown has experienced a diverse range of vocal styles throughout his life, Classical, Rock, Pop, Swing and Jazz, beginning at the age of fourteen when he joined his first band. The last few years has seen him in the front line of "Trans-4-mation" one of Sydney's most popular Jazz/Pop vocal outfits, holding a residency at Sydney's premier music venue The Basement for over two years. In 1990 Steve represented Australia in the Golden Kite World Song Contest in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with his own composition "State of Mind".
Steve has been guest vocalist with James Morrison, Don Burrows, Sandra Bernhard to name a few and recorded with Galapagos Duck. Steve was invited to China to perform 4 sell out concerts with his Big Band by invitation of Qantas and the Portman Shanghai Shangri-La Hotel. Due to overwhelming success Steve is already contracted to perform in both Beijing and Shanghai. The Steve Taylor-Brown Band has a repertoire of over 80 songs which swings, rocks and grooves through Jazz, Funk, Soul and Pop.
Steve's song writing ability has attracted the absolute cream of Australia's musicians who create the most energetic and sophisticated sound. These influences can be heard on his much awaited debut album "State of Mind" available though Indigo Groove Records. Steve's Musical Director Bob Johnson has worked with Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, Johnny Mathis, Shirley Bassey, Peter Allen and was Musical Director for Billy Field and David Atkins Production.
