Sweet Mischief

From the CD "Sweet Mischief"

Sensational 9 piece band Sweet Mischief...big sound, finger snappin' vocals, dynamic original arrangements. Their vibrant entertaining style has ensured a growing demand for this fresh, hip act.

Sweet Mischief was formed in 1997 by vocalists Karen Strahan and Lisa McClelland who, after touring Strahan's jazz cabaret show extensively with 4 part harmony group, High on Heels, decided to gather a talented line-up of musicians who would enjoy the challenge of presenting original music with a distinct jazz influence.

Enter jazz pianist and musical director, John Black and bass player George Urbaszek. While pursuing their own musical careers, Black and Urbaszek have supported and performed with countless high profile artists including Don Burrows, Thelma Housten and Wynton Marsalis.

Over the past 3 years John Black and Karen Strahan have developed a writing/arranging partnership which has resulted in a fusion of jazz, soul, blues and latin that is today the unique sound of Sweet Mischief.

"Strahan and McClelland sing with a joyfullness which can distract from how good their voices are..." Michael Foster, Jazz Critic
